  for people that might not know, when you have big
  environments and you are going to make a scene with characters, instead of placing the characters directly
  on the environment where you want them to be, you want to move the environment so
  the characters can be close to the center of the
  "word map" grid while still being where you want them in the environment.
  IIRC, the problem is that things with SSS have issues
  rendering when they are too far away from the center, which is why
  buildings, etc are usually fine.
